Wes Welker Thinks On His Feet During Recent Interview
We are in the midst of NFL playoffs. This weekend the New England Patriots will be taking on the New York Jets in what will be the teams’ third match up this season. In the first meeting the Jets won 28-14 and in the second New England beat them soundly with a score of 45 to 3. Both teams want to win the upcoming game and as usual they are trash talking ahead of the match up.
As both teams gear up for Sunday’s game the trash talking has taken on a comical air. Recently there has been some speculation regarding Jets coach Rex Ryan and his wife sharing a foot fetish. Video was unleashed with a woman who closely resembles Mrs. Ryan and a male voice off camera that just happens to sound like the coach. Of Course Rex did not comment leaving the world to still wonder.
Patriots Receiver Wes Welker decided to capitalize on the speculation during a recent interview. Each of his answers had some reference to feet or toes. It was quite funny and according to teammates it was vintage Welker. He is a prankster they say.
Here is an excerpt of his interview:
When asked about this week’s preparation he said “Everybody’s putting their best foot forward”
When asked about young players in the play offs he responded with “You can’t just stick your toes in the water. You gotta jump right in”.
He responded with “Us going out there and being good little foot soldiers and making sure we’re going out there and doing everything coach asks us to do” when asked about more practice.
Every response allowed for a subtle dig at the opponents coach. Since Ryan is known for talking trash with the best of them Welker’s approach is certainly a safe and comical way of politely talking trash in return.
